WHO WE ARE

It's a #LaborofLove!

Labor of Love specializes in saving dogs from euthanasia by tirelessly rehabilitating them and working with our partner rescues in the Northeast. Serving the western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina communities, our core group has been devoted to helping animals for almost a decade. During this time, we have rescued over 10,000 dogs, many of whom were seniors, heartworm positive, and/or in need of expensive medical treatment. After rehabilitation, they are transported north to their forever homes.

What makes us unique is that our organization is entirely foster based. We have no costly lease payments, utility bills, or paid staff! Our volunteer fosters are dedicated to helping these dogs become healthy so they can enjoy the rest of their lives in loving forever homes. Our organization is supported entirely by volunteers, financial donors, and grant monies!

Our Labor of Love: Who We Are

2023

 ~Unprecedented Times Continue~

As we continue to battle post-Covid challenges, we are more grateful than ever for our amazing village of supporters. The number of animals in need has not diminished since this struggle began. The challenges facing our nation and our individual communities have also left countless dogs in dire living situations. We receive double-digit requests on a daily basis for assistance. There are abandoned dogs, abused dogs, injured dogs, dogs whose owners have passed away, and dogs being displaced because owners’ living situations have changed. We cannot say yes to all of the requests for help, but thanks to our volunteers, supporting veterinary practices, rescue partners, and donors, we helped hundreds of dogs in 2023. Many of the dogs taken into our care would not have lived another day. By contributing in any shape, form, or fashion to our labor of love, you become a lifesaver helping us mend dogs like Mama. After being on the run for almost a year, we were able to trap her and bring her into our rescue. Within 12 hours she delivered seven beautiful puppies. Watching her transform is why we rescue. She is the most loving and grateful dog. Just look at her and the other amazing transformations.
